Thief Breaks Into Car And Leaves Winning Lottery Ticket

Sometimes crime pays, and sometimes it doesn't.

A thief broke into a Seattle couple's car and stole a pair of sunglasses last week, but left behind a winning lottery ticket worth a million dollars.

According to KIRO, when the couple learned last week that the lotto ticket they'd purchased back in February was a second prize winner, they started laughing.

"Someone broke into our car a few weeks ago and stole a pair of sunglasses," the couple told lottery officials. "The stolen sunglasses were actually sitting atop the winning ticket. What a close call!"

The couple, who remains anonymous, says they're planning a trip to Paris and Iceland some time this year. They'll also be able to afford a new pair of sunglasses.
