Students thank community for help after tornado struck school
LAKE CITY, Iowa — Students at South Central Calhoun High School found a big way to say thank you, after their community helped them recover after a tornado hit the school.
About 200 students in Lake City are finishing up the school year in make-shift classrooms. They are inside churches, the bank, a movie theater, and the community center.
The high school students wanted to say thank you and did so with the help of a photographer perched on a cherry picker. The students spelled out "thank you" on the ground below.
The picture will be handed out to community members and printed in the local paper.
