Customer leaves $2,000 tip at D.C. restaurant
A regular at a DC restaurant left an irregularly large tip on a small bill.
As WUSA reports, a customer who remains anonymous walked into Blue 44 on Monday to have some gumbo. His order of several quarts to go came to $93. Instead of leaving the usual 18%, he tipped 2150% -- a $2,000 tip. The bottom of the check gave instructions to give the chef $1000, the bartender $500, and the owner $500.
Blue 44's owner says the patron is there so often staff ask for his opinion on their menu.
