Completely numb... and waiting anxiously for the day this is really over. My heart and prayers are with my Boylston Street family. <3
My mother and I think that NOW he will go away and we will be able to move on. Justice. In his own words, "an eye for an eye".
He took away his own right to live.
A little old lady approached me months ago, said"He placed a bomb behind a little boy and wants justice? Oh we will give him justice alright"
My heart is with our entire survivor community. I am thrilled with the verdict! #bostonstrong #bostonsafer
What are the odds that Tsarnaev’s appeals drag on long enough for him to see a constitutional ban on the death penalty?
Two jurors cried after the verdict was read. So did I. Jahar Tsarnaev was led out. As we left the room, a clerk said, "Have a nice day."
We must be vigilant to not sacrifice our own humanity pursuing the punishment of the lack of humanity in the actions of others. #Tsarnaev
The real question is why it took 3 days for the jury to sentence #Tsarnaev to death. #nobrainer
Death. A fitting sentence for this monster. #Tsarnaev
Boston Marathon bomber #Tsarnaev sentenced to death. If there ever was a case for which the death penalty was appropriate, this was it.
The state killing #Tsarnaev for the crime of killing will prove once and for all that killing is wrong.

"We know all too well that no verdict can heal the souls of those who lost loved ones, nor the minds and bodies of those who suffered life-changing injuries from this cowardly attack. But the ultimate penalty is a fitting punishment for this horrific crime and we hope that the completion of this prosecution will bring some measure of closure to the victims and their families." - U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch

---

"Tsarnaev is an unrepentant terrorist held to account by a justice system that provides due process of law even to those who commit the most horrific offenses. We extend our deepest sympathies to all those affected, and hope the conclusion of this trial provides an important measure of justice to those still healing." - U.S. Assistant Attorney General for National Security John Carlin.

---

"I hope this verdict provides a small amount of closure to the survivors, families, and all impacted by the violent and tragic events surrounding the 2013 Boston Marathon. We will forever remember and honor those who lost their lives and were affected by those senseless acts of violence on our city. Today, more than ever, we know that Boston is a city of hope, strength and resilience that can overcome any challenge." - Boston Mayor Marty Walsh

"I think every time somebody runs the marathon, it will be impossible for this to be too far from their minds. The marathon has certainly changed forever ... and that by definition, I suppose, changes Boston." - Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker
