Rare 'Mono Mono' Twins Celebrate First Birthday

AKRON – Last year, one local mother celebrated Mother's Day in one of the best ways: Her twin girls were born.

The girls were 'mono mono' twins, meaning they shared an amniotic sac and a placenta. This happens in about 1 in 10,000 twin pregnancies and makes the chance of survival much less. Seconds after nurses held the babies up to show their parents, the two newborns quickly clasped hands.

The twins are now healthy and about to celebrate their big day.

The girls will be joining us on Fox 8 News in the Morning for a birthday celebration.
