Man uses unique painting of himself for marriage proposal

Alex Roelfson hired an artist in Denver to make a special portrait of him as a part of a surprise proposal for his then-girlfriend, Alexxy Schwiegerath,

The portrait isn't one you see often. It's him bending on one knee with a ring in his hand. It was created by Thomas "Detour" Evans, who is friends with Roelfson.

So, Roelfson took his girlfriend to an art show, and when they made it to the end of the Artwork Network Gallery, there was the custom portrait.

"And that was his cue the to get down on one knee in person there for the real thing, " said KMGH.

"We've known each other for a really long time. And I love you more than I can possibly love anyone in this world," said Roelfson.

Evans interviewed Alex and his new fiancee about the surprise:

"My idea was to basically have a painting of the moment before it happens," said Roelfson.

Roelfson also said he sent Evans a picture of the ring so the portrait could be as accurate as possible.

Our partners at KMGH posted the story to their Facebook page, and a commenter had a similar experience, saying her fiance surprised her with a drawing at a boardwalk.
