Trip Advisor names top islands to visit in 2015

Now that tax season is over, we're heading into vacation season!

For people who are looking for the best places to spend their tax refund, TripAdvisor pulled together information from millions of travelers to put together a Traveler's Choice list of the top ten islands to visit in 2015.

Traveler Choice's number one island destination is Providenciales, the most populated of the Turks and Caicos islands. Providenciales, more commonly referred to as Provo, is surrounded by beautiful white beaches and features luxurious hotels, villas, and condos; a championship caliber golf course, and a number of fine restaurants, spas, shops. But don't just take TripAdvisor's' word on it, Provo has been ranked "best beach" by Conde Nast and the World Travel Awards.

Next on Traveler Choice's list is Maui, the Hawaiian island, also known as the "Valley Isle" is known for its shimmering beaches, quaint towns, and scenic drives. Though it took the number two spot here, Maui has landed the number one spot Conde Nast's list of best islands nineteen times.

Rounding out Traveler Choices top three is Roatán, the largest of the Bay Islands off the coast of Honduras. It's known around the world for its scuba diving. Divers can explore the reef surrounding the island, shipwrecks, a submerged airplane, and beautiful tropical fish. For those who prefer dry land, there is horseback riding and the Carambola Botanical Gardens.

Other islands on TripAdvisors list include Santorini, Greece; Ko Tao, Thailand; Bali, Indonesia; and Bora Bora in French Polynesia.
