'Antiques Roadshow:' Four Weston photos are worth over $250K

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. And on Monday night's episode of "Antiques Roadshow," we learned four Edward Weston photographs are worth way more than that.

"So all four of the pieces together, if you were to put those at auction, that's $180,000 to $260,000 for the collection," said appraiser on "Antiques Roadshow."

Good news indeed! Andrew, the photographs' lucky owner, said they have been in his family for over 50 years.

His father was an attorney, and one of his clients apparently left him the prints when he died.

And boy, was Andrew speechless when he discovered how much the photographs would be worth at auction!

"Okay. Well, that's very good news," said the owner Andrew.

"Roadshow" fans on Twitter were just as shocked by that massive price tag. One user even claimed the appraisal just about made them fall off the couch.

All four of the photos were taken between 1936 and 1939 and printed shortly after, which makes them even more valuable than other copies reprinted later on.

To put things into perspective here, each photograph was valued between $40,000 and $70,000.

As for what Andrew plans to do with the prints, he told PBS after the show he has a big choice to make.

"I'm conflicted. I don't know whether we should put them back in the box and hide them away or hang them for people to enjoy," said Andrew.
