It seems like eons ago that Spice Girls were selling temporary "girl power" tattoos like hotcakes, introducing a screaming throng of little girls to the concept of female empowerment. Once again, feminism is taking center stage as a hot-topic in pop culture. Many of Hollywood's most recognizable stars are stepping out to support the equality movement.

We are thrilled to see stars empowering women to strive for more than a pretty face. So thrilled that we rounded up the ladies who are really radiating girl power these days.

Janelle Monae

You will rarely see this artist rocking anything but a pant suit. She doesn't let her look distract from her talent, and she encourages other women to do the same.

Beyoncé

Queen Bey's "Who Runs the World (Girls)" has become the catchy feminist anthem of the 21st century. She's candid about her thoughts on feminism, bringing the conversation to the masses.

"I always considered myself a feminist, although I was always afraid of that word because people put so much on it, when honestly it's very simple. It's just a person that believes in equality for men and women."

Zooey Deschanel

The star of "New Girl" is not afraid to speak out about the importance of equality, and we love her for it. She may seem like a cute, ditzy teacher on her show, but there's some serious depth to this actress.

Emma Watson

Emma has come far since her Harry Potter days, maturing into a woman who is setting the stage for worldwide equality as a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador. She launched the He for She initiative, inviting men to join the conversation on gender equality.

This list is of course missing so many fabulous people who are standing up for equality. Comment below with your favorite celebs who stand up for gender equality, and be sure to share this with all the women you're proud to know.
