Husband calls wife too expensive in the nicest way possible

It seems like the kind of statement that would have you in the doghouse -- saying your wife is too expensive. But put this way, it might earn you some points.

Christian Blogger Steve Nelms recently wrote a post titled "Fathers, you can't afford a Stay-At-Home Mom."

He wasn't trying to say his wife Glory was lazy or not pulling-her-weight, though. Rather, he was saying exactly how much she was worth to him -- in dollars.

Nelms broke down all of the services Glory provided for the family by fair market value. That includes child care, cooking, cleaning and taking care of finances.

What he found was that if he had to hire someone to do that work, it would cost him somewhere in the neighborhood of $74,000 a year -- which, by Nelms calculations, he quite literally couldn't afford.

He wrote in the post: "The fact of the matter is that our income doesn't even come close to covering what she does for our family ... I value my wife as the mother of my child and the one who always has my back no matter what. You are more precious than rubies."

Not surprisingly, that sweet message has gone viral -- with more than 3,000 shares already on Facebook and some appreciation to go along with it.

One commenter wrote: "As a stay at home mom I often feel guilty for not contributing financially. My perspective on 'worth' has now changed."

All of that attention seems to have caught Nelms off guard: "I thought this was just going to be a little bit of a thank you note that I posted on our blog to my wife, and it seemed to resonate with people and took off. So, it's definitely been a surprise."

His wife has been modest about the whole thing, too, saying neither she nor her husband has it easier.
