World's Biggest Rabbit Has Rival In Giant Son

Last year, a rabbit named Darius won the Guinness World Record for "World's Biggest Rabbit." Now, his title is threatened by an unexpected competitor: his son Jeff. The father and son are a pair of continental rabbits, which are the largest breed of rabbit and have been known to grow up to 4 feet. Darius already bounced passed that mark, at 4 feet 4 inches long -- and his son isn't far behind. Jeff currently measures 3 feet 8 inches long and still has six months left of growing to do.

Their owner, 63-year-old Annette Edwards, told the Daily Mail, "Darius was always big but Jeff is huge considering he's still a baby. I'm expecting him to grow much bigger than his dad."

She says that they get along well with other pets, are very friendly to people and yes, they have a sizeable appetite to match.

Annette says that every year, the father and son eat around 2,000 carrots and 700 apples, plus daily bowls of specialist rabbit food and a bale of hay every week -- all of which costs almost $7,500.

Annette says it's worth every penny, though.

"Although the pair of them are huge, they're the best animal friends I could ask for. They are both very laid-back and chilled out -- Jeff really takes after his Dad."

That's for sure. And hey, there's nothing wrong with a little family competition.
