Jon Cryer hopes to finally speak to a sober Charlie Sheen

The series finale of Two and a Half Men aired in February, and it's safe to say that Charlie Sheen wasn't too happy about how the show ended. While Sheen didn't return for the finale, his character did -- and was quickly killed off by a falling piano.

Concerning the show's creator, Chuck Lorre, Sheen told TMZ in March, "I don't care if he lives or dies. Doesn't even matter. To go that long with that immature, and that completely unevolved and that stupid, in my face, really? You must feel safe, (expletive). I'm just saying, you must feel safe where you live. Run with that brother!"

Now, Sheen's former co-star Jon Cryer is saying his piece about Sheen's reaction to the episode.

"Yeah, I thought it went well," Cryer joked on HuffPost Live.

On a more serious note, he added, "I had hoped that he would get the spirit in which the whole thing was, but it didn't go that way. And you know, I am sad ... I had hoped that there could be some closure for the whole thing." By "the whole thing," Cryer is referring to the show's goodbye.

His personal thoughts on the farewell episode? "I think the writers had a huge challenge, because how do you end what was effectively two shows with one episode? I think they did a great job with it, and it sure was funny."

As for Sheen's harsh comment, Cryer admits that "it's never fun" to hear him say such things.

"There was a guy I knew and worked with for several years and had a great time working with ... and then he decided he didn't want to be sober anymore. I'm hoping there's a day when he decides that that's important to him again," Cryer said. "And I'll be his friend when that day comes."
