Eva Mendes recalls wearing a $6 dress on first red carpet

Eva Mendes has had no shortage of time in the spotlight lately.

The actress and new mom joined Instagram on March 12th with a precious throwback photo of herself as a little girl.

She also recently used Instagram to clarify a controversial comment she made linking sweatpants to divorce rate.

The actress was highly criticized for the statement, and she eventually "apologized" for it in this lighthearded Instagram post. Ryan Gosling, the father of her new daughter, even came to her defense.

Today, Eva threw it back to her first red carpet in 2001 -- where she wore a $6 dress from Goodwill. She even did her own hair and makeup!
