Rita Wilson on Brian Williams: 'I Support Him 100 Percent'

Rita Wilson and Allison Williams got pretty close when Rita played Allison's mother on the hit HBO series "Girls."

So when Rita was asked Wednesday about the controversy surrounding Allison's father, Brian Williams, she was quick to come to his defense.

"Oh please. These are the most wonderful people, they're incredible people of character. I think it's much to do about nothing. And I think it will be cleared, and he'll be back on 'Nightly News,' and I support them 100 percent," said Rita Wilson on "Watch What Happens Live."

Of course, Brian Williams was recently suspended from 'NBC Nightly News' for six months for exaggerating his experiences while covering the war in Iraq in 2003.

And he's been dealing with the fallout from the scandal ever since. But his loved ones, including Allison, have stood by his side through it all.

"He's a really good man. He's an honest man. He's a truthful man. He has so much integrity. He cares so much about journalism. And yes, he's a really good dad, but I know you can trust him because, as any good daughter does, I have tested him on that."

And Rita is actually the second person to stand up for Brian Williams just this week.

Bill O'Reilly also defended him during his appearance on the "Late Show" amid allegations that he too has fabricated some of his experiences in his past reporting.

"I think that NBC should bring him back, I think they will bring him back."

It's unclear what NBC's plans are for Brian Williams once he returns from his suspension.
