Before Katie Holmes jumped feet first into Hollywood with her role in "Dawson's Creek," she was just a fresh-faced girl growing up in Toledo, Ohio.

These days, it's rumored that Katie is dating fellow actor Jamie Foxx, but in her high school days, there weren't any boys hanging around. She attended Notre Dame Academy, which was an all-girls school.

Before Katie married the star of "Top Gun," Tom Cruise, she was the one at the top of her class. She reportedly got a 4.0 and aced her SATs to a point where her father wanted her to become a doctor.

Instead, Katie wanted to break a leg, so to speak -- so she began taking acting classes at a modeling school.

Katie took part in her school plays and was eventually accepted to Colombia University, before scoring her iconic role as Joey on "Dawson's Creek."

Since then, Katie has been caught in a Hollywood riptide -- from her high profile ex-marriage to her life as a single mom raising Suri as one of Hollywood's "it" kids. She's sure come a long way from Ohio.
