Step One:

Curl hair back and away from the face using a 1-1.5 inch curling iron. To avoid a “ringlet” look, wrap small sections of hair around the wand. When you get to the ends, gently tuck under the clasp.

Step Two:

Lightly tease the back of the crown section, then secure with bobby pins towards the nape of the neck.

Step Three:

Lastly, take small sections of hair and gently twist back towards the nape of the neck and secure into place, making a small chignon. Finish with a strong hold hairspray.

It's no surprise that celebrities brought their A-game to this years Academy Awards. We saw lots of gorgeous cream and blush gowns, sleek romantic up-do's, and natural faces with a pop of colored lips. One actress who has continually impressed us this awards season is none other than Emma Stone. This nominee killed it at the Golden Globes and SAG Awards, but she definitely saved the best for last at this Sunday's Oscar's.

Her lemon hued Ellie Saab gown was stunning, but her hair and makeup are what really won me over. I immediately fell in love with the soft curls that framed one side of her face while the rest was delicately pulled back. I think what I love most about this style, is it's extremely versatile. You can easily wear this to an interview, a night out on the town, or when hosting a dinner party. It has just the right amount of playfulness, while staying out of the way. See the slideshow above for an easy three step guide to getting a simple version of Ms. Stone's chic up style.
