Water main break floods Hollywood Hills neighborhood, leaving SUVs submerged
A water main break in the Hollywood Hills is flooding streets and has left several vehicles in an underground parking structure submerged.
Fire crews responded to the 6400 block of Dix Street early Wednesday after a pipe burst, sending water spewing into the neighborhood, said Capt. Jaime Moore of Los Angeles Fire Department.
Los Angeles Department of Water and Power crews are still working to stop the flow of water, the utility's spokeswoman Kim Hughes said. The utility was notified about the burst about 4:30 a.m. and is trying to shut off a series of valves in a specific sequence to avoid causing another rupture, she said.
Several vehicles in a parking structure were taking on water, he said. Fire crews are trying to pump out the water.
