Father Fires Back After Teacher Shames Daughter's Lunch

A Missouri dad says he was shocked and a little confused after receiving a note from his daughter's substitute teacher this week. Justin Puckett who is a medical doctor trained in obesity medicine, received a stern letter telling him the lunch he packed for his daughter was too unhealthy.

It reads:

''Dr. and Mrs. Puckett, The cafeteria reported to me that Alia's lunch today included four chocolate bars, a bag of marshmallows, Ritz crackers and a pickle. Please see that she packs a proper lunch tomorrow."

The note ends with a required parent signature which they respectfully "declined" to sign.

Dr. Puckett posted the note to Facebook, criticizing the school for taking this "Big Brother" approach to his parenting style.

Puckett told KTVO that the letter didn't even accurately describe what was in his daughter's lunch bag, explaining, "She had four pieces of ham, a whole protein meat, she also had some pickles, which we admittedly cheat on pickles every once and awhile as a vegetable, because some fights just aren't worth having." The chocolates were meant for sharing.

The school's principal and the school board superintendent both apologized for the overstep, saying "it will not happen again."
