Lena Dunham Apologizes for Comparing Bill Cosby Scandal to Holocaust

This week Lena Dunham compared Billy Cosby's sex scandal to the Holocaust and after backlash she's taking to social media to do some backpedaling.

In an interview with Time Out New York for her cover story, Dunham was asked about Judd Apatow's rumored "obsession" with Bill Cosby.

Recently the Hollywood director gave interviews and tweeted a series of messages slamming Cosby on social media - Cosby is accused of sexual misconduct by nearly twenty women.

Apatow even tweeted out the list of Cosbys future show venues calling for the public to "let the theaters know how they feel."

In a radio interview with comedian Marc Maron for his podcast, Apatow said Cosby should go to jail or, "at the very least, go in your mansion and disappear for the rest of your life. He shouldn't be rewarded and applauded for raping that many women."

This week when Time Out questioned Dunham on Apatow's vitriol toward Cosby the "Girls" star said, "It's sort of like saying someone's obsessed with the Holocaust. It's not, 'I'm so angry about Hulk Hogan's sex tape.' This is a huge issue, and it speaks to the way that we abuse power and the way that celebrity allows for injustice."

Dunham later posted a photo of the magazine's pop art cover and addressed the holocaust comment in the caption writing, "My best friend and partner @campsucks interviewed me and it was a ball. However, I feel I didn't properly express my respect & passion for Karen O. and Danny DeVito. Additionally I'm already aware comparing Bill Cosby to the Holocaust wasn't my best analogy. With Love from your special rape-hating Jew friend LENA"

Dunham's full interview with Girls show runner Jenni Konner is in the January 22-28th issue of Time Out New York.
