Anthony's guide to setting smart goals for 2015

Updated

"Let's talk new year's resolutions," offers Anthony Carrino, star of HGTV's "The Kitchen Cousins." "For a change, I am going to focus more on me (on the inner me) instead of work-focused goals. I have found over the last few years that the more time I take to myself the more I am able to accomplish and the easier it is to accomplish it, so it becomes this self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts."

With this in mind, Anthony shares his resolutions for this year:

  1. Leave the country and go somewhere I have never been.

  2. Cook more -- both to save money and eat healthier.

  3. Workout regularly.

"They seem simple enough, but you know how life gets," he admits. "The easiest way I've found to make these goals happen is to set realistic expectations. The easiest way to do that is to make your goals quantifiable."

The construction guru edits his original goals:

  1. Leave the country -- my long-term goal.

  2. Cook twice a week, and as that gets easier, I'll try to bump it up to three times.

  3. Workout three times a week and stick to it when I am traveling for work.

"Now, I have a unit of measure and can track myself."
