Lions, tigers and Ryan Seacrest, oh my!

The "American Idol" host struck out on a South African safari over the Christmas holidays and from the looks of his social photos, he had a pretty wild time.

Seacrest, who turned 40 on Christmas Eve, celebrated his milestone birthday and the holiday season with his family in the exotic locale.

The longtime radio host joked that he was getting in touch with his inner-Jack Hanna as he explored the outback and eyed animals like antelope and cheetahs.

During his travels to the beautiful country, Seacrest also made a charitable stop at the Lalela Project facilities.

He snapped a photo with a young girl from the Lalela Project.

He captioned the snap, "hanging w selena she wants to be a forensic phycologist! in imizamo yethu learning about#lalelaproject @lalelaproject."

The South African-based charity provides educational arts to at risk youth and also posted a photo of Seacrest's visit to their headquarters.

It's a good thing Seacrest got in some vacation time over the holidays. Next up, he'll host Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve live from Times Square in New York City on Wednesday.
