J.Crew Teaming Up With 4-Year-Old Designer

J.Crew is teaming up with a new designer for a summer 2015 collection. What makes her so special? Well, to start, she's only four years old.

"Where do you get these ideas from?" CBS reporter Tarika Duncan asked.

"In my head," 4-year-old Sydney Keiser said.

Sydney Keiser began designing outfits when she was three years old, after her mom, Angie, had her make a construction paper dress as an arts and crafts project.

"The creativity and ingenuity that poured out of her the more I encouraged her self-expression was pretty amazing to see," Angie told Cincinnati Magazine back in March.

#tbt December 11, 2013. What was she doing a year ago today? Taping paper together, of course :) #fashionbyMayhem
Twirlability: adj. a super fun quality required by Mayhem for the collection she designed with @jcrew :) Not kidding. Super stoked. SO.MUCH.FUN. You can read more about our BIG news on the blog as well as the @jcrew blog! (Awesome photo courtesy of J.Crew) #fashionbymayhem #SheHasHerOwnLabel
She called me in after it was finished and simply said,"Make sure you get the whole train in the picture Mom." Here's to hoping the rest of the week greets us all with as much ease :) #fashionbymayhem
Well, it looks like Mayhem may actually have real fashion sense as this was the one she chose as her favorite from the globes. I was tempted to post this last night when I saw this dress popping up as "BEST" all over the entertainment shows (we made it early yesterday) but figured I could just show you the metadata on the image if you don't believe me ;) Happy Tuesday! #fashionbymayhem
Dear J-Law, I've got your back ;) XOXO, Mayhem #fashionbymayhem
Happy Friday friends! We suggest shakin' it like you mean it today ;) #fashionbymayhem
She says she has a special whistle for calling her pet spider home. I say she's spinning some impressive little webs ;-) #fashionbymayhem
Thank you for a lifetime of inspiration Mr. de la Renta.
Told ya we haven't been slacking ;) Be sure to follow @voguemagazine for more #fashionbymayhem today :) RG @voguemagazine: Mayhem and @2sisters_angie are recreating iconic #MetGala dresses! Do you recognize this one from @sarahjessicaparker? #regramapp
When I asked what she was staring at, she replied with,"my next great adventure". #fashionbymayhem #alwaysincharacter
We both super duper LOVED Cassadee Pope's dress last night for the #CMAawards. And Mayhem also super duper loved her "colored on bracelet" ;-) #fashionbymayhem
This dress went from long, to long with fringe, to "I need to cut the fringe off so we can see the boots" in about 5 minutes. Because she's not afraid to edit :) Happy Friday friends! #fashionbymayhem #mayhematthestudio
Guess who got an invite from @samsungmobile to see the Reem Acra show at #NYFW? I'm just thrilled she's still a minor and forced to let me tag along ;-) Today has been amazing...to say the least. #PoweredBySamsung #fashionfuture
It's so interesting to me that sometimes she just goes completely back to the basics of how we started. Nothing fancy. No "trying". No frills. And she's just as satisfied with the results :) #fashionbymayhem
She couldn't decide between partying like a rockstar or partying like an animal to get this weekend started, so she went with both ;-) Happy Friday friends! #fashionbymayhem
If she can be this excited about pretending to see fireworks then we're off the hook for taking her to see real ones, right? Happy #4thofJuly from someone who totally embraces her independence :) #fashionbymayhem
Today we finished the dress she started with a babysitter a couple days ago. When I said "oh wow, a sunflower dress - that's a great idea!", she replied with "yeah, it was @elizabethnetzel's idea! I wonder why you never thought of that." #fashionbymayhem
This was fun :) RG @voguemagazine: We might not be able to call this one an iconic #metgala dress, per se, but it is definitely an iconic #metgala look thanks to @badgalriri—and now Mayhem. @2sisters_angie @dolcegabbana #vogueinstafashion #regramapp #fashionbymayhem
We're calling this one "a request for yet another Taylor Swift dress gone horribly wrong so we changed course and it ended up more fabulous than the inspiration" .... Too long of a title??? ;) #fashionbymayhem
We weren't planning to do a Grammys dress at all. I also wasn't planning to do a second dress today. I didn't plan on running out of tulle. I didn't plan on Mayhem having 100 tantrums today. You better believe I'm "not planning" to have a glass of wine this evening either. And certainly not 2! ;) #fashionbymayhem

Angie showcases her daughter's designs, which are all made out of paper, on her Instagram account. More than 448,000 follow the account, all wanting to see what Sydney will dream up next.

Angie almost didn't believe it when J.Crew's executive creative director Jenna Lyons emailed her earlier this year, expressing interest in working with Sydney.

"I remember reading the email and being certain it was a set up. As in, it's probably some kind of wicked virus that if I reply to it, my laptop will explode or at the very least melt before my eyes," she wrote on her blog, Fashion by Mayhem. Mayhem is Sydney's nickname.

Despite the hesitation, Sydney and her family flew out to New York to meet with Lyons and J.Crew officially announced the collaboration last week on social media, writing, "The designer of our next #crewcuts collaboration? 4-year-old fashion blogger and paper dress maker, Mayhem."

The clothing company wrote on its blog that it's been busy transforming Sydney's paper creations into a wearable kids line.

Working with Sydney is a departure for the brand, which up until now has joined forces with some pretty big name designers.

This past fall, J.Crew teamed up with Joseph Altuzarra for a limited 7-piece collection. If his name sounds familiar, it's because he recently collaborated with Target, as well.

It's also currently working with high-end British shoe designer Sophia Webster.

Sydney's kids collection will hit stores next summer. To get the inside scoop on the girl who's likely the world's youngest fashion designer, head on over to J.Crew's website.
