Photos of the Week: 11/28 - 12/5

Happy December! The first few days of the month are in the books, so take a break from your holiday shopping to relax a bit and look back at this past week in photos.

It's not uncommon to see athletes yelling and dancing to celebrate their successes, but soccer player Pablo Zabaleta of Manchester City got a little more creative after scoring his first goal of the season this week. Zabaleta scored the third of Manchester City's four goals against Sunderland this past Wednesday, and proceeded to hide the ball under his jersey and suck his thumb - a gesture dedicated to his pregnant wife and unborn baby in the stands. He explained after the game that he hoped to score "at least one goal" before the baby was born.

College football's rivalry week and week 13 of the NFL season also provided us with great pictures, including one of Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota hurdling Oregon State safety Justin Strong as part of a convincing victory by the Ducks. Other sporting events featured this week include the Women's World Team Squash Championships in Canada and the UCI Cyclocross World Cup in England.

Several gripping photos also emerged from protests in Ferguson, Missouri, and other cities around the country that showed their solidarity with Ferguson after a grand jury chose not to indict officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown. Another well-known protest rages on in Hong Kong where pro-democracy activists continue to clash with police, as has been the case since late September.

Click through the slideshow above to see more of our favorite shots, like a scuba diving Santa in Japan and a young girl who is just as sick of Black Friday shopping as we are, and make sure to check back next weekend for our selection of the best photos from the next seven days.
