These photos are part of a new book chronicling the remains of the war --- by photographer Marc Wilson. In this forest bunker, machine gunners once crouched inside defending a vital part of the line.

Soldiers perched in this look-out post that's now slowly falling into the sea, these trenches were used to shelter soldiers and their heavy artillery.

As fog masks these old, silent forts...One can almost hear the echoes of gunfire and the sounds of war.
