Wisconsin Waiter Discovers Wallet Left on Table with Thousands of Dollars

GLENDALE, Wis. -- A waiter at a Bayshore Town Center found a wallet containing thousands of dollars underneath napkins on a table.

Wilber Palicios works at Hom Restaurant. On Friday, a wallet with a reported $4,000 in it was left by a customer, but it was covered with napkins.

The wallet's owner had left the restaurant.

Palicios grabbed the wallet and took chase out into the parking lot.

"Then I saw him way over there, so I ran over there, and he was getting into his car. I just waved at him, just show him the wallet," Palicios said.

The man gave Palicios some money to say thank you.

"We're actually giving him a $250 bonus, and we've bought him dinner just about every night since he did it, too," said Omar Shaikh, president of Surg Restaurant Group.

"I just thought it was the right thing to do," Palicios said.

"The fact they're going to give you $250. What does that mean to you," WISN 12 News' Craig McKee asked.

"Well, I really appreciate it, so I can send it to my mom for Christmas. She really needs it," Palicios said.

The man who left his wallet behind is asking to remain anonymous, and Palicios is keeping the dollar amount the mystery man gave him a secret.
