What Are the Worst States for Working Women

According to census.gov, women make up about half of the workforce in the United States, but they still make, on average, 79 cents for every dollar a man makes. This varies from state to state though.

In New York, woman make 86 cents for every dollar a man does, while in Louisiana, women earn 66 cents for every dollar a man does.

So, 24/7 Wall Street crunched the numbers and released what they found to be the top 10 worst states for women to work in:

Gender wage gap: 79 cents per dollar (25th best)
Poverty rate, women: 15.2% (23rd lowest)
