Rare mono mono twins inseparable at six months old

AKRON - The photo of Jenna and Jillian Thistlethwaite holding hands just after birth drew worldwide attention. Six months later, the twins are thriving and the global attention has died down, but the siblings still inseparable.

It's admittedly even hard for parents Sarah and Bill to tell the tiny BFFs apart.

"Actually Jillian, the way you could tell her from her sister, she is a little bit smaller, about a pound difference between them and Jillian has a birthmark above her left eye and eyelid," said Bill Thistlethwaite.

Jenna and Jillian Thistlethwaite were born at 33 weeks on May 9 sharing an amniotic sac and placenta at Akron General Medical Center in Ohio. Jenna was born at 4 pounds, 2 ounces, with Jillian following less than a minute later at 3 pounds, 13 ounces, the AP reported.

Mom Sarah sat down for an interview with WJW-TV just days after she gave birth to the rare babies, explaining her anxiety.

"I had a lot of anxiety at the beginning, especially, when I found out they were mono mono twins - just whether or not they were going to survive."

The story of their births gained so much attention, the girls' mother told WEWS it even made it on the news in Australia.
