A teenage girl complaining of stomach pains turned out to have a nine pound hairball lodged in her stomach.

After not being able to eat or drink, 18-year-old Ayperi Alekseeva underwent surgery in a hospital in Kyrgyzstan where doctors found a massive hairball blocking her digestive system.

Apparently the girl had a habit of chewing on her hair and eating hair she found on carpets.

The hospitals senior professor of surgery said, "The parents brought her in after she started losing weight, and she couldn't eat anything. By the time we got her she could not even drink water. We realized we needed to operate immediately."

The girl has promised doctors she'll try not to eat her hair in the future.
