The NYPD made an out-of-the-ordinary save last month.

Olivia Fader and her girlfriend Mal Zee were visiting the Big Apple from Nova Scotia and planned to attach a lock to the railing of the Brooklyn Bridge as many couples do.

Olivia, however, had other plans in mind. She had an engagement ring attached to hers
and when she used a key to pop the lock open, the ring fell between two planks and landed 40 feet below on a platform.

Fortunately a friend fetched two officers nearby and they happily retrieved the ring.

The couple posted all about it on their blog, saying, "We spent the rest of the trip in a dream like state, still in disbelief at our luck. We are so deeply grateful for all of the people who came together and helped us that day, especially the NYPD officers who went above and beyond for some unlucky tourists."

Harris even tweeted a thank you to the precinct. The couple plans to get married in August 2016.
