NEW DELHI (AP) - A New Delhi zoo official says a man was killed by a tiger after climbing into the moat surrounding the animal's enclosure.

National Zoological Park spokesman Riyaz Ahmed Khan says a guard repeatedly warned the man not to get too close to the tiger's enclosure Tuesday afternoon. But the man eventually jumped over a fence and into a protective moat. The tiger grabbed the man from the moat.

Authorities eventually frightened the tiger into a small cage inside the enclosure. Khan says the man was dead by the time help reached him.

Further details about the victim and the tiger were not immediately available.
