Ex-House majority leader Eric Cantor joins investment bank

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor has a new job as vice chairman and managing director of a global independent investment bank.

New York-based Moelis & Company announced Cantor's appointment Tuesday in a news release.

Cantor lost his re-election bid in the June primary and left Congress in August. The Virginia Republican had served seven terms representing the state's 7th Congressional District.

Cantor says in the release that he considered his career options and knew he wanted to join a firm with what he calls "a great entrepreneurial spirit that focused on its clients."

Moelis & Company has 15 offices in North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia.

Cantor "will provide strategic counsel to the company's corporate and institutional clients on key issues."

Yeah, like how to avoid paying taxes, which offshore postal drop box is best, what price will buy which member of Congress, etc.

Oh he's a wealth of information.

Makes sense. After all, he worked for Wall Street crooks the entire time he was in Congress. He just carried a different business card that had an American flag logo instead of a $$$ logo.

Huh...wonder how long it'll take for that company to screw its clients out of billions and then screw the taxpayers for a bailout...

First it was Romney, investment banker, now it's Cantor, investment banker. The rich get richer and the poor can't survive on the minimum wage all these investment bankers want to pay their workers.

The job I would like to see him get requires a uniform. Black and white stripes with leg irons. And the job a 16 lb hammer to make little rocks out of big ones.

Charlie, Charlie! We don't put even the worst criminals in black and white uniforms anymore nor require them to do physical labor of any kind. Where have you been?

Amazing, when liberals get high paying jobs after their political lives are over....everyone in the media assumes it was because they were "qualitfied". When in fact it was just more the results of networking that all those (on both sides) do when working. Why do you think they can get fired or simply leave one seven figure income job and move into another? You never hear them going on unemployment or filing for food stamps. Their kids never have to stop going to one of the elite colleges. Again..BOTH sides do this.

Term limits. Not if the lobbyists have any say in the matter. Once paid for, the rep is endebted for life.. If he has a chance to loose, the Koch brothers or similar will back him up with expensive TV ads to BS the public into voting for him again.
