Neil Young and wife Pegi divorcing after 36 years of marriage

Legendary singer Neil Young and his wife are divorcing after decades together.

Young and wife Peggy filed for divorce on July 29, ending their 36-year marriage, according to Rolling Stone.

The pair married in 1978. They have two children, a son and a daughter, and even performed together – Pegi was a backup singer while he toured the world in the 1990's. She even joined him onstage at the 1994 Academy Awards.

Pegi was the inspiration for many of the superstar's classic hits including "Such a Woman," "Once an Angel" and "Unknown Legend."

They also started the Bridge School in 1986 after growing frustrated at the lack of schooling options for son Neil, who suffers from cerebral palsy.

The school is funded by an all-star concert held every year in Mountain View, California, according to the magazine. The 2013 benefit was the last time Neil and Pegi performed together.

Both were scheduled to play Farm Aid in September, but Pegi's name is no longer on the lineup.

Their next court hearing is set for December 12.

So sad...so many years. BTW, his son is Ben, not Neil. Neil is 69 and definitely alive. Awesome talent.

I think Neil Young is a prick but I liked much of his music.
That said, after 36 years why divorce?
How bad could everything be that they are pulling the switch?

I ask myself that same question, I was married 37 years and my husband got heavily into porn and cheating. I never knew, Needless to say I am devestated beyond words and probably will never recover from the shock.

Marriage is as good as you make it, and it doesn't suck as bad as growing old alone

I think being old and alone ..but content is probably better than being tied to someone who makes you miserable and poses a continuous unapologetic risk to your spiritual, emotional and physical health.

Carol: Growing old alone does suck. I'm living it. But, at 60 years I still have hope.

Sure Christopher, nothing a young woman likes better than a musty smelling old man with erectile dysfunction and a nut-sack that looks like rocks in a sock.
Yeah that's an instant wetty ...

Neil, you don't know what you got till it's gone! If you think some young broad that wants your money will wipe your as- you are CRAZY. Pegi stood by, the mother of your children. Your pathetic!!!

Quite honestly, I don't know how she managed for all those years. After seeing him after many years I was surprised at observing how he really let himself go...so undone. His recent trip to canada portrayed a man of self-importance - not the neil of yesterday. Perhaps his wife leaving may wake him up to what he has become? Probably not, so sad.

I worked on Neil's Ranch in 1971,72 and 73. Those were the good old days. I thought I was in love with him, because I thought he wrote and sung "Horse with No Name" but then I found out it wasn't him!! LOL..oh how the mind plays tricks on us. At any rate, "Hey Neil, I'm going to retire soon, would love to come back to work at Broken Arrow. Peace Out!

Neil wishes he did Horse with No Name... his voice wasn't nearly as good Dan Peek's! Ahhh but it was the 70s... are you sure it was Neil's ranch?? LOL
