Baseball Manager Meltdown Includes Neatly Placing Shoes on Home Plate

The manager of the Winston-Salem Dash, a Minor League baseball team, threw a very unique tantrum during the team's last home game of the season.

In the clip that was thankfully posted to YouTube, Tommy Thompson can be seen neatly putting down his shoes on home plate, while arguing with the umpire. Apparently Thompson was upset over a checked swing call. The umpire said it wasn't a swing, Thompson said it was.

The second umpire couldn't talk the manager down, but the crowd was loving the reaction.

Thompson then takes it one step further, gracefully throwing his helmet into the stands. For his finale, he drops some napkins or papers on to the field.

His ballet-style helmet toss may have been a stronger finish.

These types of antics aren't new for Minor League managers, though. They're known to have childlike meltdowns.

It appears Thompson lifted the shoe move from notoriously ill-tempered manager Joe Mikulik, who did the same thing a few days earlier, but also added his jersey, and maniacally slid into home a few times.

It may be mostly grandstanding, it is pure entertainment.
