Mayor says 'ridiculous' parking signs must go

A series of very tall parking signs in Culver City were set to be taken down Friday after they were featured on a local news website, the city's mayor said.

Extremely complicated parking signs were drawing attention in Culver City, where the city's mayor said they were set to be taken down Aug. 22, 2014.

The signs, which appeared to have six to seven metal panels stacked on top of each other, were posted near Linwood Howe Elementary (map), according to CurbedLA, a planning news website.

Local resident Rob Stemm posted a photo of the signs on Instagram.

"Don't even think about parking on my street. You'll need a law degree to figure out if you're allowed to park here," Stemm wrote.

The signs have multiple references to school hours, Culver City Unified School District and related permits.

"This looks ridiculous," Culver City Mayor Meghan Sahli-Wells wrote in a comment on the CurbedLA article.

She confirmed to KTLA that she asked the city's traffic engineers to have the signs taken down by 4 p.m. Friday.
