Wife to bury Kasem in Norway, cites heritage

Casey Kasem To Be Buried In Norway

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) - The wife of U.S. radio personality Casey Kasem has cited her Norwegian heritage as one of the reasons for wanting to bury her late husband in Oslo, a spokeswoman for the funeral service agency there said Tuesday.

Kasem, the host of "American Top 40," died June 15 in Washington at age 82. His death followed a lengthy battle over his care between his wife, Jean Kasem, and his three adult children from his first marriage.

Wenche Madsen Eriksson, spokeswoman for the funeral service agency in the Norwegian capital, said Jean Kasem also told the agency of plans to move to Norway later this year and said having her late husband interred there would allow her to visit him.

Kasem's body is in an Oslo funeral home and has not yet been buried, said Danny Deraney, a Los Angeles spokesman for the Kasem family members who are disputing Jean Kasem's burial plans for her husband.

The family members have signed a letter saying Jean Kasem "doesn't have an ounce of Norwegian blood," Deraney said Tuesday.

Other relatives and friends say Kasem had wished to be buried at the Forest Lawn cemetery in Los Angeles.

Norweigen descent, my rear end. She is purposely moving there so that his kids won't have any access to visit him. What a cold hearted b***h!

Is she planning on moving to Norway for ever? Is the widow afraid that if he is buried in the U.S. the body might be exhumed in case there if ever a criminal investigation? Makes one wonder.

The wife, Jean Kasem, sounds like a bonafide wacko. If she were half a woman, she would have found a way to make peace with his kids so that they and Casey could have enjoyed what time they had while he was still alive and cognizant. No one said they had to love, or even like, each other, but they could have gotten along if only for the sake of her husband and their father. Burying him in Norway sounds like a very unkind and vindictive thing to do. Clearly she wants to hurt his kids any way she can, and for her to use her late husband's burial as a way to do that shows you just what kind of person she is.

Legally, it doesn't matter what the children want, when there is a surviving spouse. The surviving spouse has the final say.

Cover up for what? The kids were the ones who got a court order to end his life, not Jean.

If you've ever had stepchildren you should try and make peace this woman has done everything in her power to keep his children away from him, as if her child is an only child she will pay.

The man is dead. WTF difference does it make where he is buried. These people need to show some respect to the dead and let him be at peace once and for all. Although I have the say the moment he died, he received his peace. And probably the only time too
