Hero jogger Rebecca saves kids from Mass. reservoir

Hero Jogger Saves Children from Drowning Near Boston

Most great superheroes go by only one name, like Superman or Catwoman. Now, you can add "Rebecca" to that list -- she's a jogger who saved two kids in Massachusetts.

"She's pretty modest and humble. Rebecca doesn't even want her last name used."

She was jogging around the Brookline Reservoir when a stroller with two kids in it started rolling toward the water.

The stroller went over the edge and into the water with the 1 1/2-year-old and 4-year-old stuck in it. The parents had their backs turned to the stroller at the time.

In a matter of seconds, Rebecca, a former lifeguard, jumped in and flipped the stroller over - likely saving the children's lives.

She told WHDH: "I think, in my head I was thinking: 'I hope I hear them cry. I hope I hear them cry.' As soon as I flipped it, one of the girls started crying, so I was like 'OK, they weren't in for too long.'"

WFXT says one mom jumped in as well but couldn't swim and had to hold onto Rebecca for help.

Amazingly, WBZ-TV reports, Rebecca was only in town for the day to celebrate her father's birthday. And actually, she's the latest in a string of joggers who happened to be in the right place at the right time.

A similar story took place last month in Indiana when WSBT says two joggers jumped into the St. Joseph River to rescue two kids being swept away.

"I think anybody would do the same thing. Just jump in, right?"

And in February, one jogger helped save both a man and his dog.

WMAQ says, "Twenty-two-year-old Adam Dominick, jogging here for the first time, a novice climber who thought fast, found a piece of rope, tied a special knot and began the rescue."

Police believe this latest incident at the Brookline Reservoir was simply an accident. The children were taken to the hospital later just in case. And we're thinking Marvel should make a superhero named Rebecca, stat.
