ISIS supporters tweet about Robin Williams' death
The death of Robin Williams has dominated almost all forms of media since the news broke late Monday, and no where is that more true than on social media, with hashtags like #RIPRobinWilliams and #RobinWilliamsWillLiveOnForever exploding on Twitter not just in the United States, but worldwide.
And it turns out the impact of Williams life and extraordinary acting career extends into communities that might seem at odds with a popular American comedian like Williams: ISIS supporters.
#RobinWilliams is dead? Weird. Grew up watching his movies.

Some of that conversation was chronicled on Storify by tech reporter Kelsey Atherton, including a series of messages shared Abdul and Abdullah, AKA truthsMaster and mujahid4life. Both tweet regularly about ISIS and the Islamic world, but Monday night, the conversation shifted towards the death of the comedic icon.
@Ibn_Fulaan good movie. Loved it as a kid

But while sympathy and shock highlighted most of the conversation surrounding Williams' death across the globe, for some the dialogue took a decidedly different tone.
i saw his stand ups long ago, they were better, he had talent, but he died a disbeliever @ValArgen@AshiqeRasul

#RobinWilliams hanged himself? SubhanAllah what blessing Islam is. Verily, Allah guards us from depression. Hell, what an evil destination.
- Abdullah (@mujahid4life) August 12, 2014
Those of you who say "RIP" to #RobinWilliams check out what he said about Islam. http://t.co/LeT8pz2GZK May Allah make him burn.

Let's make it clear, do not bring depression stories with Robin Williams committing suicide, his death is a punishment, wa lillaahil hamd
- Abdul Malek #خلافة (@truthsMaster) August 12, 2014
Makes jokes about Jihad -> Hangs himself. Enjoy hell. #RobinWilliamsWillLiveOnForeverpic.twitter.com/HPtUL0FG4m

But the debate also inspired at least one less emotionally charged conversation between Alex Horton, a self-identified American vet, and Abdullah, who discussed some of Williams' most famous films.
@AlexHortonTX like I mentioned yes I've seen it. Yeah its crazy when u think of it lol
- Abdullah (@mujahid4life) August 12, 2014
@AlexHortonTX not so sure. What's the story about? I may have seen it.
- Abdullah (@mujahid4life) August 12, 2014
@mujahid4life@AlexHortonTX a smiley face? This convo...I can't.
- Kate Hoit (@KateHoit) August 12, 2014
@KateHoit@AlexHortonTX I don't have a problem with people long as the convo is civil & both sides have at least some form of respect.
