Chihuahua rescued by Rottweiler from the jaws of a coyote

Chihuahua Rescued by Rottweiler From the Jaws of a Coyote

This astonishing video showing a Chihuahua being rescued by a Rottweiler from the mouth of a hungry coyote was posted in 2010 but only went viral in the past couple days.

According to the owner of the CCTV footage, Trixxie, the Chihuahua, was tied up outside when she was spotted by a hungry coyote. Only the intervention of the neighbor's Rottweiler, Happy, saved the life of the smaller dog.

According to the uploader, prior to this incident there were no coyote sightings reported in the area -- which is near a city with no prior history of attacks like this.

Even more unusually, it happened at 7am, which is not a normal time for a wild animal attack.

This footage picked up at least 1.2 million views in 48 hours.

We keep pushing these animals out of their natural habitats because we need another starbucks or walmart. What do you expect?

who the hell ties a Chi up outside??? Too lazy to take the pup for a walk??? GRRRRR

Long ago, a coyote snatched one of our cats at the barn. My dogs (Tibetan Mastiffs) took off in hot pursuit, the coyote was slowed down by the cat laying upside in its mouth and able to use its claws, scratching and biting.

My female knocked the coyote over (she was faster) and the male came up, grabbed the coyote by the throat, pinning it. Cat got away and my female proceeded to disembowel the coyote. There were pieces of him every where.

Bravo on the neighbor's Rottie!

Give that dog a good size steak for saving his little buddy...and why is a chi that small out side like that without anyone...and tied up ....they were just looking for trouble...get off your duff and be with that chi while he is outside...

A wild animal doing something unusual in the daytime seems suspicious. A check for rabies might be in order. Couldn't hurt, anyway.

I would feel sorry for anyone messing with my wife's little dog. My Doberman would turn them every way but loose. This is our third Doberman and our second small dog and all of the Dobermans have been very protective of the little guys.

Dobie's have a very undeserved reputation. They are great dogs and wonderful family pets.

I don't know which is worse, the writers at AOL that do not know grammar or posters that aren't much better. Disgraceful.

Either way, its is nice to see the little guy win.

My cat saved me and my sons two dogs when two large dogs who got into my yard. One of our dogs was a small tea cup Pomeranian and the other a Beagle. One of the dogs picked up the Pomeranian into his mouth and the other one was trying to get to the Beagle, which I had on a leach. All of a sudden my cat Gaby jumped on the dog who had Teddy in his mouth, he dropped Teddy who ran into the house. Bingo and I fought off the other dog and we finally were in the house and safe. Gaby the hero of the story ran under my car and was safe from the mean dogs.
