Brothers reunite after seven decades apart

Brothers Reunite After Seven Decades Apart

After more than seven decades apart, two brothers have reunited. According to USA Today, last month Frank and John Holland saw each other for the first time in nearly seventy years, but their story really begins almost eighty years ago.

In the mid 1940s, around the age of five and six, the two boys were separated during their parents divorce. Little Francis and his mother hitch-hiked across the country until she eventually abandoned him in Ohio, where someone brought him to an orphanage. His father jumped boxcar to boxcar with John, or Junior as he was called then, and tracked Francis down, and left both his sons at the Belmont Children's Home. They stayed there for a number of years, but in their early teens they were separated again.

Francis went to live with an aunt while Junior, the older boy, remained in the children's home until he came of age. Then he joined the navy. The siblings completely lost contact... until this month.

While getting treatment for skin cancer in California, Frank, 83, told a nurse about wanting to see his brother again. The nurse put him contact with a lab assistant who used to work as a private eye, and she managed to locate John's son. Frank called, and John's son put his father on the phone.

The brothers organized a reunion, and two weeks ago the long lost siblings saw each other face to face. Frank, who has no children and recently lost his wife, said not only did he find his brother, he found a whole new family.

This isn't the first reunion in recent months. Just last February, five siblings who were separated at birth were finally reunited after 50 years. But get this - two of the siblings had been crossing paths for years, completely unaware of their connection. One brother was a frequent customer at the same Walmart where his sister worked. Apparently she had greeted him countless times.

The most important part of this story is that they were reunited. Their early lives may have not been the best. But they are together now and have each other. Bless the workers that help this happen...

This is why heterosexuals should not be allowed to have children.

Wonderful. Last November I found my half-sister that I had been trying to find for 50 years. She had been searching for us for 47 years. We met in February in Oahu for the first time. I am 63 she is 67. Our father was in the navy and stationed on Oahu during WWII. He was married to her mother and divorced after four years. He came to the mainland when he got out of the service and married my mother. These sorts of reunions are precious.

Some people just aren't sentimental until the end is near. Or they just want to walk away from the hardships of early years and live a life. I'm glad the guys are in each others lives again.

The brother that was connected to his sister, only to find out she worked at his regular Wal Mart stop, is pretty cool or tragic, depending on how you look at it. I'm agnostic, but sometimes I think there is something screwing with us and rubbing his/her hands in glee.

Such a deeply touching story!
The Internet Age can be a two edged sword - for good and for bad.
In this case, it is the internet and his background as a PI, that helped the lab assistant reunite the brothers!
