Obama aide says impeachment threat taken seriously

WASHINGTON (AP) - One of President Barack Obama's top advisers says the White House takes seriously the possibility that House Republicans could pursue impeachment of the president.

Senior White House adviser Dan Pfeiffer told reporters Friday that the GOP has already "opened the door for impeachment" by contemplating suing the president over his use of executive authority. He says that any further executive action Obama may sign this year on immigration will "up the likelihood" of Republicans pursuing that path.

Pfeiffer was dismissive about how good a case Republicans could make to come up with impeachable offenses. But he says it would be foolish to discount the possibility that Republicans would at least consider pursuing impeachment.

President Obama is a man of courage, personal values and conviction. The Republicans are resorting to this impeachment threat because so far, they have not been able to bully him by other means. If they go thru with this. a terrible waste of time and taxpayers money, it will be the end for the GOP, because the national backlash against them will wipe out all public trust and political capital they have accrued. slowly built up and put back together since Richard Nixon was forced to resign.

Couldn't agree with you more....they seem like the majority at times because they don't have work responsibilities (unless you count picking up the gov't check) so they can get out and protest. Fortunately for them we do WORK to keep their checks coming from our hard earned cash that's stolen from us....can't wait for the day we say enough and that gravy train ends.....

What work have Republicans ever did. They are the Party of NO! They offer nothing, and fight against any and everything to help struggling people. Then, they make certain that taxpayers will pay their paychecks, bogus lawsuits, and needless Benghazi investigations.etc They are the worst acting Congress in history.

Lotta self-loathing Americans too afraid of being dealt the 'race card' have let this monstrously unqualified, indifferent, incompetent and detached wretch of an excuse for a president demolish your country bit by bit. You all get what you deserve by being afraid to shout that this Chicago community hack is a total fraud. Now eat you pathetic 'Hope and Change' and choke on it. We, in the rest of the world can only laugh and shake our heads at your kowtowing to this fool. You were once a great country.

jmar, how many Americans were sent to their deaths and those that returned with countless emotional /physical disabilities from a war based on a lie for oil? And, by the way, tanked the economy?

So this is really about one thing and one thing only HATE! This is a very dangerous rabbit hole if they are so consumed with hate to allow themselves to go in, they may relegate themselves to irrelevance if they attempt this. The Constitution does not allow a President to be impeached because the minority party hates him. This is dog won't hunt or bite.
