No matter what polls suggest, the debate goes on

LeBron Enough To Make Cavs Contender?

XN Sports

From the world of 'you can truly manipulate numbers to say anything you want them to', LeBron James now rates as the world's most popular male athlete, toppling six-time NBA champion and hoops deity Michael Jordan after a 13-year run of dominance.

In a miniscule reflection of just over 2,000 voters, the Harris Poll supposedly gauged the inner-most feelings of the masses and concluded that King James now holds their hearts, the gaping substance over style advantage Jordan still clearly holds over him be damned.

Ah, the irony. As recently as 2011, James' "Decision" to abandon his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers to join Dwyane Wade in Miami dropped him out of the Top 10 among the world's most popular athletes, yet we're now to believe "Decision 2" is enough to instantly elevate him to heights he has never reached before.

The survey revealed James was most popular among the youthful demographic of 18 to 36 year-olds, and to that I opine youth is indeed wasted among the young. Check the tape, view the footage, learn your history.

James will never be Jordan and the former's six to two advantage over the latter in NBA titles doesn't tell the half of it. The distinction Jordan merited he earned through competitiveness and loyalty, sticking with the Bulls for six long and laborious seasons before his teammates grew to the point of being able to bring the franchise a chip.

Meanwhile, James approach has been infamously different, at least up until this month when he suddenly, only two NBA titles in, realized he was a native of Cleveland and his hometown was in a depressed economic state.

But the Harris poll will now have you believe The King, nonetheless, sits at the head of the throne, the true vibe of most the commoners be damned.

Folks, this is all that matters, When they all get to the end of the road and have to stand before Holy God, He will not ask or care about who's the best player in the game of basketball. He will care about whether or not they have accepted His Son Jesus Christ and what did they do with the talent they were blessed with in building the Kingdom of God! Bottom line folks! Anything else will fade away. Including all those millions!

That is about timing. Jordan wanted to be like Julius Erving. That is about whom came before who.

Well Duh that people would say that Lebron is more popular now..since Michael Jordan hasn't played in YEARS and isn't in the public eye anymore! But Lebron couldn't hold MJ's jockstrap!

Stated very well, plus the social media hype of now-a-days, helps Lebron skyrocket his rating. Good basketball player but not better than MJ. He needs to stop moving around, have some loyalty and win with what the team you have not with the team that you want to have.

There is NO coparision in the GOAT and the WANNABE....as a Michael Jordan fan ,it is really is time to quit even saying his name in the same breath as MJ...in a one on one with THE GOAT MJ would kill him...and one last thing...at the time MJ ruled...JAMES would have been considered a good player at best..none of the players stack up to the players back then...had to get this off my chest ....GOAT MJ ,,,,END OF STORY...PERIOD..

Yeah... Jordan was by far and away the best - the best at whining, crying, whimpering, blaming others for his mistakes and taking credit for the accomplishments of others....Hmmmm, sounds a lot like another overrated Chicagoan......

M.Jordan is by far more popular, im not a basketball fan but i use to turn tv on just to see him play. I did'nt watch the NBA finals this year. Social media has a lot to do with Lebron's popularity.

I loved basketball. Played everyday after getting out of school, about 10 years on the old playground and a few gyms we rented. When on was pretty good. We did not play with any stars except a few guys now and then who showed up from the local high school team. I did play one time against a Ky star and future NBA star, did okay until he backed me under the rim for the crowd that showed up. Him at 7 foot and me at 6-2 not quite much one could do. But I could shoot over that big mug, once you got him going one way his body kept him going that way. He did slap a few back in my face too of course. But then off to work at the small college in town, put in the gym taking care of basketball and cleaning up after the fans and so basketball's love packed up and went out the door. A cutthroat world there I could imagine it at a big college and the pros. So give Lebron a knife and Michael a knife and settle the issue.

You'll never find someone who saw both of them in their prime and say James is better, only people who think James is better are the young people who didn't see Jordan play. It's really not even close. Stupid debate. Ignorance

Well said my friend, for those of us who are 30 plus we can honestly say without a doubt that even though LeBron is great he's DEFINITELY NOT on the same level as MJ!
