Woman Steals Money From Young Girl Selling Candy For Fundraiser

It was like stealing candy from a child, because that's pretty much what it was. Police in San Francisco are looking for a woman who robbed an 8-year-old girl who was selling candy outside of a store.

According to police, an unidentified woman between the ages of 40 and 50 walked into a store to buy a $1.25 can of beer, but was short on cash and walked out. On her way out she eyed the money a young girl was holding in a clear plastic bag. Apparently the unnamed girl and two of her friends were selling candy for a school fundraiser.

The one girl went back outside alone and the suspect asked for change for bus fare. Police officer Gordon Shyy told KTVU the suspect "ended up grabbing the child's arm, twisting it until she let go of the bag of money." Luckily the child only suffered minor injuries during the incident.

As of Wednesday, the suspect was still on the loose.

A stark reminder to parents to always accompany children when going door to door for fundraisers.
