Michael Sam wins Arthur Ashe Award for Courage

Michael Sam Wins Arthur Ashe Award
St. Louis Rams defensive end Michael Sam accepted the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage at the ESPY Awards on Wednesday, July 17, 2014.
The defensive end tearfully walked up on stage after receiving a standing ovation. Michael Sam addressed the crowd and said, "This year I have a lot of experience being part of something bigger than myself. At times, I felt like I was living in a massive storm, but I'm here to tell you the lessons I learned about love and respect will never leave me." In another touching moment, he addressed his boyfriend Vito Cammisano: "Vito, people tell me I'm very inspirational, but you're my inspiration."

What did he do to get the award? Just for announcing he's gay? Maybe throw in a car, a dishwasher and a years supply of Campbell's soup if whoever is giving the award is that generous. I know people who have shown much more 'courage', REAL courage, who don't get a call from Obama or any recognition. I just don't get it. The article doesn't really inform us about much of anything at 1 1/4 paragraphs.

Give me a break. Another gay gets an award for courage. What courage? I am so sick of this. Did he risk his life? nope. Did he get hurt while doing something courageous? nope. He is gay. So what. Good for him. He knows who he is. I am ok with that. I am tired of "gaydom" being thrown at us from every angle. I am just glad I was able to come out straight a few years ago to everyone. It lifted my spirits and helped me live a normal life. Yes world, I am straight and I am proud.

Only if you cry like a 5th grader that just found out her cat died, and your female partner wears the pants half the time. Oh, and she has to use at least three fingers during sex. Then you can be recognized as courageous

And many were confused when he said he was a Teabagger - they just couldn't process it.
