Dzhokhar Tsarnaev seen day after Boston bombing in new video

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Seen Day After Boston Bombing In New Video

It's been more than a year since police say Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his brother set off pressure cooker bombs during the Boston Marathon. Now, the Massachusetts Attorney General's office is releasing this video showing Dzhokar Tsarnaev and a friend going to the gym on April 16, 2013 - the day after the bombing.

The man going to the gym with Tsarnaev is - according to the Attorney General's office - friend Azamat Tazhayakov, who's on trial for obstruction of justice and conspiracy in connection with the bombings. Jurors in that trial saw the video, presumably to show Tazhayakov and Tsarnaev were, in fact, friends. Prosecutors say Tazhayakov planned to destroy Tsarnaev's laptop and a book bag with fireworks inside.

As for other takeaways from the newly released video, the New York Daily News' Sasha Goldstein portrays Tsarnaev as carefree the day after the bombings - describing his expression as a smile and a smirk. But we have no way of knowing that - or what the two were saying at all. The video is silent, so any judgment about either man's mood at the time the video was taken would just be a guess. Beyond that, though, the latest is simply yet another window into what the surviving bombing suspect was doing in the short time between the attack and his capture days later.

The Boston Marathon bombings killed three people and hurt another 260.
