Cop adopts pit bull he rescued twice

Cop Adopts Pit Bull He Rescued Twice

ARLINGTON -- After rescuing the same pit bull for a second time, Arlington Police Sgt. Gary Carter has decided to adopt the dog.

"This dog keeps crossing my path so it must be meant to be," said Sgt. Carter.

The officer first rescued "Jeffrey" a few weeks ago when he found what some people warned was a 'vicious' pit bull. Carter found the dog to be friendly and photos of the two soon went viral. After reuniting Jeffrey with this owner, the dog got out again and was taken to Animal Services.

Carter decided to adopt the dog so he would not be euthanized, and he's changing Jeffrey's name to Chance, in recognition of his second chance in life.

I'm glad these type of stories become "public". We consistently hear stories of "bad cops" or abused animals. Thank you Sgt Carter....you've renewed my faith in the human condition.

Absoutely. We see so much evil coming from our species we really have to stop and consider that those actions are newsworthy. The many decent people simply don't get any publicity because healthy and "good" are boring to many.

How nice ....seems all I hear about are dogs being abused. God Bless that kind officer for having compassion and sparing this dog!

Great story, good luck to both of them. My hubby is a cop and brought home a barking dog call one night. She was a great German Shephard mix. Grew up with our two daughters, and now has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

Police people get a bad name because there are some that aren't true humanitarians. Your husband and this man are. Haters, please take into account that there are nasty people in all walks of life. The decent ones need to be recognized.

Nice Story, Dog's are like having children, you will do anything for your dog. Your dog jumps on you for licking when you come home , easy to take care of , Your protector and Buddie, Never asks for Money or anything monetary ! This was an Oman . Now the Dog is loved and safe. This is the second dog I have heard of today who was rescued. Happy News ***

God bless you Sgt. Carter. Have a cat with the same name, same situation, so renamed "Chance," for the obvious: a second chance for an abused, sight impaired cat. Chance is now 18 years old.

My son owns a pit bull. He weighs 92 pounds and he is a lover. He is scared of my other son's Springers and he is so eager to please. He loves children and he was a rescue. The drug dealer who had him kicked him regularly in the face before feeding him. It took us almost 3 years to make Ranger realize that he would not be kicked when he ate. He is a lapdog, a lover, an animal who only wants love. He already suffered from heart worms and needed to be neutered, so it was not for free as that bum of a former owner said
