TSA: Some at US-bound airports must turn on phones

TSA Requiring Some Passengers Overseas To Power On Electronics

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Transportation Security Administration is requiring passengers at some overseas airports that offer U.S.-bound flights to power on their electronic devices.

The TSA says it is requiring some overseas airports to have passengers turn on devices such as cellphones. It says devices that won't power up won't be allowed on planes, and those travelers may have to undergo additional screening.

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh (JAY') Johnson recently ordered the TSA to put extra security measures in place at some international airports with direct flights to the United States.

American intelligence officials have been concerned about new al-Qaida efforts to produce a bomb that would go undetected through airport security.

The TSA will not disclose which airports will be conducting the additional screening.

If they're seriously concerned about America's safety, they'd lock our borders.

Umm, why don't people like us go down there and help lock their share of our 2,000 mile border if we're so worried about it? That's the only way it will ever be sealed, if it ever will. My own sense is you could line up shoulder to shoulder from Brownsville, Texs to San Diego, California, and there would still be infiltrators. But I'm willing to try iit if enuf people come with me.

Stop allowing checked luggage?

If it's in checked luggage how will you turn it on mid-flight? That's what they're worried about that it can be used as a triggering device. This measure was in place at different stadiums around the country - right after 9-11.

They have time for airport security, witch they need but we have an even more priority to our borders that your President and his adminastration has brought upon us and yes they knew about it because back in January this year DHS" Department of Homeland Security" was looking for a contractor to house and care for 65,000 illegal children witch means that Obama Hussein and his administration knew about this in advance and also got the word out down there if you come you can stay. This is in your face your goverment actions against the American Citizens along with treason violations against our constitution and Obama Hussein re-writing laws to suit him. Not to mention the IRS scandal, VA scandal, every time Obama Hussein is caught with his hand in the cookie jar and we can all see he is behind all of this.

I have no problem with that.
If you dont like what you have to go through at the airport, then stay home or find another way to get there.

The big problem are those in Europe and the UK who are given passports without checking.
WHy not just make a rule, all those coming to the US must have a passport and birth certificate. If not a natural born citizen of the passport contry, do not let on plane.

Obama was born in Hawaii - and the last I checked that is one of our 50 states - as for his traveling - I would bet big bucks he has a passport. Foolish comment

So you are saying Naturalized Citizens of the United States of America should no longer be allowed to travel. Seems you are in favor of doing away with constitutional rights for some citizens but not others. What's next? Do you want to do away with their voting rights too? After all, they may vote for someone you don't like. Of course you will want be able to readily identify these people so how about you make them where a large yellow badge of some kind. Does any of this sound familiar? I doubt it. You probably slept thru your history course.

Remember................“When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.”
― Sinclair Lewis 1935 novel "It Can't Happen Here"
.
It's too bad that the fanatics that hate this president because they are told to daily won't understand what that quote means or when it was made. If they did they would realize that this president has done everything he can to keep ALL this country's people free. Congress on the other hand has done it's level best to destroy us all.

Obama took away the terrorists red crayons....what's the problem?

The only way to completely eliminate the possibility of a carry-on bomb is to ban luggage and require flyers to be completely naked. But then the terrorists would find some way to implant a bomb inside the belly of a 300 lb man.

The real way, would be to close our borders! No more illegals coming into the USA! How do we know who they are? Far too many are sent from the drug cartels and from terrorist groups!

Why don't we follow Mexico's rules for illegal aliens? Mexico doesn't stop sending in their sick children and illegals or else all business (imports included) stops with Mexico!!!

People going through airports are not illegals who cross the border via tunnels, swimming, boats etc. Can;t you stick to the topic at hand? The safety of air travel - Not the borders.

I know it man, I'm sure when your kids travel to grandma's house, or maybe Disney World the last thing wanted will be that INTRUSIVE process initiated to save their lives from terrorists, their lives are worth taking a stand for privacy, right?

When we have no freedom that false "security" really won't matter. Feel sorry for your kids, your mind is quite simple.

How is that privacy? It's a friggin cell phone that almost everyone has on anyway - They aren't looking through it, they're making sure it's not a triggering device - They did this at all the stadiums after 9-11 and that was why.
