It's hard to imagine having to escape an apartment blaze, but one remarkable bride and her maid of honor did just that, reports KMGH.

Fox News says, "Lenise Ruff had to jump from her burning third-floor apartment just days before she walked down the aisle."

KCNC reports that Lenise Ruff -- who's now Lenise Brown -- had severe burns on her hands, and her roommate and maid of honor Marilyn fractured two vertebrae.

Fast forward to five days later and Lenise was ready to walk down the aisle. However, she wasn't sure Marilyn would make it -- she'd been recovering in the hospital ever since the fall.

"This morning she texted me and says, 'I'm gonna come out.' For her making that trip, I know it was hard. But it means a lot of us," the bride said.

According to HLN, Marilyn had to use a walker at the wedding, but she made it.

Lenise invited KUSA to film her special day -- everything from getting laced into her wedding gown to taking those first few steps as man and wife with her husband Sam Brown.

And from the looks of it, the wedding went off without a hitch. The bride was even featured on Cosmo, and she shared a link on Facebook her wall.

The Browns are currently honeymooning in Hawaii. As for Marilyn, doctors say that she should make a full recovery in a couple of months.

Six other people were injured in the fire, and the cause is still under investigation.
