Bones identified as missing teen 40 years later

"I never, never thought she was dead."

Florida police made a big breakthrough in the cold case of a teenager who vanished more than four decades ago.

It started in 1976 when Nancy Grace Daniel disappeared near Orlando when she was 14. She was last seen getting in a car, leading her family to believe she ran away.


But last month her skeletal remains were identified.


"I never imaged in my mind that my sister was dead... just imagine having your only sister, and she's gone from you for so long, and no one knows where she's at. "


Six months after she disappeared, two decomposing bodies believed to be teenage girls were found in a lake but detectives eventually labeled them cold cases. Thanks to new technology, though, they were able to identify Nancy's remains more than 40 years later.

The other set of bones, only referred to as "Jane Doe," are still a mystery. There is now a $5,000 reward for information in the case.
