Johnny Manziel told 'tone it down' by Browns management

Will Johnny Manziel Tone It Down?

XN Sports

Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam is demanding rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel "tone it down" amid an ongoing period where the former Heisman Trophy winner is taking a beating in the media over his high-profile and party-filled lifestyle.

Days after screenshots of Manziel and hip hop star pal Drake were posted on social media, including one where the one-time Texas A&M star used a stack of cash as a phone and shouts "I can't hear you. There's too much money in my f-cking hand," Cleveland.com reports Haslam is ordering coaches to have a talk with the 21-year-old Manziel about being "more savvy" in dealing with social media.

"We know you're young," the website reports ESPN's Chris Mortensen recently said of Manziel. "We know you're single. Joe Montana himself said that Bill Walsh pulled him aside, and that was before the age of social media. Johnny Manziel has been told to tone it down, and to watch what goes up on social media."

Over the last several weeks, such Hall of Fame legends as Montana, Emmitt Smith and Warren Moon have all implored Manziel to slow down a bit and concentrate more on football instead of his "Johnny Football" alter ego.

Up until now, the Browns appeared to be trying to keep Manziel focused and humble by publicly branding him a backup and stressing that he would have to earn any playing time he receives during his rookie season.

Yet on Friday, Manziel remained as feisty as ever, even as some teammates are now openly admitting his antics are starting to cause a distraction in the locker room.

"I'm not going to change who I am for anybody," Manziel told reporters. "I'm growing up and continuing to learn from mistakes and over again, but am I going to live in a shell or am I just going to hide from everybody and not do anything? I don't think that's the way I should live my life and I'm not going to do it."

What will be funny is when Manziel will fail to produce and get burped out of the NFL.

He is the Male version of Lindsey Lohan. Cleveland you knew what you were getting...Sorry, but he is a spoiled princess who is in it more for the stardom than for the sport and his parents are "Enablers" so there you go.

A few of the offensive linemen will set him straight, as they neglect to block those defensive ends coming in for the kill. That''s how we straightened out smart ass quarterbacks and running backs. It's amazing how fast they straightened up.

So, in other words, he's going to continue his was despite what he was told. A very quick way to end your career before it even starts.

Maybe he will tone it down, but I doubt it. He'll either be a first rate quarterback or a backup for a few years and will get bounced from the NFL.

Another Cleveland Browns bust. You knew exactly what you were getting so stop complaining. He's going to get his head knocked off. Most veterans already hate him. I could manage the Browns and do a better job. Any of us could who have some knowledge of football. Sorry Browns fans another 10 years of losing. Just move the team .

The problem is then that he might be injured or badly injured & you are out a QB indefinetly , either way Cleveland you are out BIG BUCKS. Trade his sorry butt now & get what you can for him

That's OK, just wait till one of those linemen or linebackers gets a hold of him. Might knock some sense into him.

And when the offensive line steps aside to let it happen, the point will be made.

Perhaps someone could get Ryan's address in prison for Johnny and they could become pen pals.

Something tells me there will be no need to get the address... If "Johnny Football" continues to ignore good advice, and continues to hang with his "friends"... he will be occupying the cell right next door to Leaf. They can hang out together and compare bad life decisions.

This guy is 100 times worse than Ryan ever was. problem with Ryan is he just wasn't any good in the NFL, heck he'll tell you that himself. Ryan didn't party, he actually tried to play.
