World Cup: Final World Cup power rankings after group play

By ALEC KLEYER
XN Sports

Guaranteed there are few people in the world who predicted Costa Rica to win their group; a group consisting of Italy, Uruguay and England. Costa Rica defied tremendous odds with a win against Italy and Uruguay. They finished off an unbeaten run with a tie against England in their last game of the group stages.

Now Costa Rica heads into the round of 16 against a below average Greece side that can easily be beaten.

Defending champions Spain finally bagged a few goals and ended the tournament on a better note. They played youngsters and fresh faces in their final game and showed off their bright future. But, how bright will it be?

Guess what else happened. Yep, Suarez got hungry. This is not the first, not the second, but the third cannibalistic act of the Uruguayan. Uruguay will surely miss him when they face Colombia in the round of 16.

The updated power rankings include Suarez's absence.

What a bunch of lame-ass typically American comments criticizing Soccer and players. What could the rest of the world possibly know? American Football is nothing but brainless slabs of bacon smacking into one another.

Football is for gorillas and brainless players. Soccer is good for tall and small players...you need speed, good coordination, and a big foot to kick asses, no I meant, to kick the ball.

Somehow I have a feeling that there would not be so many negative comments were the USA in the top 10. But, hey, that's okay. The US has done very well, very well indeed and the sport is growing in popularity expotentially in the US.

I've never been a soccer fan. But I cheer for the USA in any international competition. I watched more soccer this World Cup then ever before and I am starting to enjoy it. I still don't understand all of the rules but I have great respect for those involved and for their athletic abilities.

In consideration of his victims Suarez should be ordered to undergo a mandatory blood test for HIV AIDS / HEPATITIS / ALL STDS and any other blood or saliva borne des ease. Results to be publicly broadcast. Forbidden to participate in ANY athletic competition OR event until he undergoes testing. Of course with IFA being the corrupt thieves that they are... this will NEVER happen.

One thing I love is that Russia already got knocked out of the World Cup. They deserve that punishment, considering the bullying they did to Ukraine.

Biteing, Fake injury's, no wonder the US is doing badly at this game, we'er above the mental set. No honor or pride in this sport.
If a group of athletes act like this in this country we call it the WWF.
